IGNOU Address and Name Correction Procedure – IGNOU students can change or correct their address and name in their academic database by following the given instructions. The printed performa for the address change is sent to the students along with the first set of IGNOU Study Material. If a candidate is transferred to another address or if any corrections are needed in the address then they can submit this letter to correct or change the address.
IGNOU Address Change Procedure
The student has to use provided performa and programme guide with the study material and the filled application must be sent to IGNOU Regional Centre which they selected at the time of enrollment in the university. They will make necessary changes in the database and will be updated to the Registrar, SED (Student Registration Division), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Candidate cannot make or send a direct request to SRD, New Delhi or any other regional centre of IGNOU.

IGNOU Name Change or Correction Procedure
If the candidate comes to know that there is a mistake in their name while checking their registration status then candidates have to correct the mistake soon to prevent from issues in future. For correction in the spelling of the name, candidates have to attach an attested photocopy of the 10th class Certificate. Candidates can also download the application form from online if he/she has lost or misplaced the provided performa and programme guide.
Candidates are requested to not write any letter to other officers of IGNOU University and it must send concerned RC only. The application sent to other departments will be ignored.
As per the notification dated 23rd August 2021, the university has decided to take a prescribed fee to make changes in the provisional marksheet, certificate and grade card for correction in name or address. The students have to pay the one of the below fees while applying for the name or address change in IGNOU.
- Rs 500 (On or after 31st Convocation)
- Rs 1500 (Between 1st to 30th Convocation)
Note – It is noted that if the mistake was made by the university then no fees will be charged to the candidates.
The Duration of Change after Application
Normally it takes 4 to 6 weeks to take effect the change of new address in the student’s database.
Things To Do After Submission of Application
Once the students have submitted the application form for any of the above things can check the status of their application or change in the IGNOU Registration details page. The correction or a change will be updated their after verification of the correct documents. The student is requested to keep checking their IGNOU Admission Status to find the changes for which they had applied.
